CIL places 750,000t imported coal order with MMTC

April 9: Coal India Ltd (CIL), which had imported 5,00,000 tons of coal for supply to power plants last year (2014-15), has placed order with MMTC Ltd for import of another 7,50,000 tons of the fuel for the first six months of the current fiscal (2015-16), according to information available with ICMW.

The order is placed on behalf of four power generating companies, namely Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL) of Punjab, Nabha Power Ltd (Punjab), APGENCO and APPDCL. The delivery of the material will have to be made in the first six months of 2015-16, sources said.

CIL may place order for similar quantities for the second half of the year, they added.
