CIL’s 67 projects delayed due to various issues

August 28: As many as 67 projects of Coal India Ltd (CIL) have been delayed primarily due to land and rehabilitation related problem, the company has said.
“A total of 46 projects have been delayed due to delay in land acquisition and Relief and Rehabilitation (R&R) issues, while 20 projects have been delayed due to miscellaneous reasons while one project has been delayed due to adverse mining conditions,” the company said in its annual report for 2012-13.
CIL has 117 mining, excluding 13 projects of Western Coalfields Ltd approved, subject to finalisation of the coal supply agreement on a cost-plus basis, and 26 non-mining projects, costing Rs 20 crore and above, under implementation.
Out of 117 projects, 55 are running on schedule and 62 are delayed whereas out of 26 non-mining projects, 21 are on schedule and five are delayed, the report said.
