CIL’s April coal despatches up 1.63% y-o-y

June 6: Despatches by Coal India Ltd (CIL) stood at 40.5 million tons (mt) during April 2014, up 1.63% from 39.85 mt recorded in April 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Of the total despatches during the month of April 2014, those to the priority sectors or power, steel, cement (including captive power plants) and fertilisers stood at 29.52 mt, 0.55 mt, 0.42 mt and 0.16 mt respectively.

The company had despatched 29.79 mt, 0.57 mt, 0.45 mt and 0.18 mt, respectively to the power, steel, cement and fertiliser sectors in April 2013 which shows that despatches to the respective sectors were down marginally in April 2014 compared to April 2013.
