CIL’s Chhattisgarh, Odisha, MP output rises 12.57%

November 19: Coal India Ltd (CIL), which has reported 9.2% growth in production during the first seven months (April-October) of 2015-16, witnessed more than 12.5% increase in output from the three states of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, according to data available with ICMW.
These three states together contributed 66.17% of CIL’s total production of 273.91
million tons (mt) during the period under review, shows the data.
Production from other five states – West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Assam – accounted for the remaining 33.83% during the period.
Almost all the states, barring Uttar Pradesh and Assam (which showed marginal decline in output), indicated a positive growth during the first seven months of the year, the data revealed.
West Bengal and Maharashtra, which had displayed a sharp decline in output during the first quarter (April-June) of 2015-16, picked up production in the second quarter (July-September) and reported a slight growth at the end of October 2015.
The highest production was reported from Odisha (71.445 mt), followed by Chhattisgarh (63.87 mt), Jharkhand (55.55 mt) and Madhya Pradesh (45.93 mt). Assam has the lowest output of 0.12 mt during the period under consideration.
