January 29: Both the allotted and offered quantities of coal through the MSTC platform in December 2014 rose sharply compared to that in November 2014, according to information available with ICMW.
In December 2014, a total of 3.612 million tons (mt) of coal was offered for allotment by the subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) out of which 3.187 tons got allotted.
However, during November 2014, consequent upon the government directive to CIL to restrict its coal offering under e-auction in order to supply more of the commodity to power sector consumers only, a small quantity of 0.734 mt of various types of coal was offered by the subsidiaries of CIL on the MSTC platform of which 0.591 mt got allotted.
On the other hand, during October 2014, offered and allotted quantities stood at 0.763 mt and 0.714 mt, respectively.
