CIL’s October output up 14.76% y-o-y

November 03: Coal India Limited (CIL) on November 3 said that its October output exceeded the target it has set for the month and registered a strong growth compared to the level recorded in October 2013 as well as September 2014.

Production of CIL in October 2014 stood at 40.20 million tons (mt), up 14.76% from 35.03 mt produced in September 2013, and slightly higher compared to the target of 39.74 mt for the month of October, according to provisional data released by the company.

“This was the first month in the current financial year when CIL produced more coal than the target,” an industry expert said.

With this, CIL’s October output was the highest in the current financial year as production at five of the eight subsidiaries of the company achieved more than their respective targets.

On a month-on-month basis too, the company’s output grew 15.25% compared to 34.88 mt produced in September 2014.

During April-October, 2014-15, coal production by the world’s largest coal miner stood at 250.96 mt, up 6.56% over 235.51 mt produced in the corresponding period of 2013-14.

The company’s coal production target for the April-September, 2014-15 was 259.85 mt.

For the current financial year, the company has set a production target of 507.00 mt.
