CIL’s available coal resource at 131.32 billion tons: Minister

July 17: Available coal resources in the existing blocks at Coal India Limited (CIL) amount to about 88.42 billion tons, an official said, quoting an assessment by CMPDI.

The resources are likely to go up to 131.32 billion tons if another 119 blocks that have been recommended for allocation to CIL are actually allotted, the official said.

“The coal resources available in the existing CIL blocks are about 88.42 billion tons. In addition, the Ministry of Coal has assigned 119 blocks to CIL which have about 42.90 billion tons of coal resources,” the official added.
