CIL’s coal off-take rises 9.59% in January y-o-y

Coal India Ltd (CIL) achieved a 9.59% growth in coal off-take in January 2016 to 48.32 million tons (mt) from around 44.09 mt seen during the same month of 2015.
The company’s coal off-take in December 2015 stood at 48.16 mt which means the off-take in January was up by 0.33% month-on-month. The off-take target for January was 50.85 mt while that for December was 49.46 mt.
Of the total eight coal producing subsidiaries of the company, the off-take by only two (ECL and NCL) in January 2016 was higher than the target for the month. Rest of the five subsidiaries - ECL, BCCL, CCL, WCL, SECL, MCL and NEC – missed their targets.
CIL’s total off-take during the first ten months of 2015-16 (April-January) stood at 437.61 mt, which was 9.76% higher compared to 398.68 mt seen during the corresponding period of 2014-15, the data revealed.
Despite registering near double-digit growth, the company has missed its off-take target of 450.49 mt by 3% set for the first ten months of 2015-16, the data revealed.
