CIL’s coal off-take up 9.37% in December y-o-y

Coal India Ltd (CIL) achieved a 9.37% growth in coal off-take in December 2015 to 48.16 million tons (mt) from around 43.91 mt seen during the same month of 2014.
The company’s coal off-take in November stood at 45.33 mt which means the off-take in December was up by 6.24% month-on-month. The off-take target for December was 49.46 mt while that for November, at 46.16 mt.
The off-take by only two (NCL and SECL) of the eight CIL subsidiaries in December 2015 was higher than the target for the month as rest of the five subsidiaries - ECL, BCCL, CCL, WCL, MCL and NEC – missed their targets for the month as well as for the nine-month period.
The total off-take during the first nine months of 2015-16 (April-December) stood at 389.29 mt, which was 9.78% higher compared to 354.60 mt seen during the corresponding period of 2014-15, the data revealed.
Despite registering near double digit growth, the company has missed its off-take target of 399.64 mt set for the first nine months of 2015-16, the data revealed.
