CMPDI achieves 9.9 lakh metres drilling in FY16
15 Apr 2016
The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) has achieved total drilling volumes of 9.94 lakh metres in 2015-16, about 20% growth over 8.28 lakh metres achieved in the previous fiscal (2014-15), company sources told ICMW.
“We have achieved a year-on-year growth of around 20% in 2015-16. This, however, was slightly short of 10.5 lakh metres that we expected to achieve during the year,” the sources said.
Of the total drilling, 4.08 lakh metres came from departmental means (3.56 lakh metres in 2014-15), while the remaining 5.86 lakh metres were outsourced, they said.
The shortfall in total drilling vis-a-vis expectations was mainly attributed to the hurdles related to forestry clearance and also a lower growth in outsourced activities, including the work done by MECL with which CMPDI has an outsourcing agreement.
For the current fiscal (2016-17), the sources said, the yearly target is set at 11 lakh metres, which translates into a growth of 10%.
