CMPDI exploratory drilling grows 19% in FY15
19 May 2015
May 19: The Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) has achieved about 19% growth in exploratory drilling work for coal at 828,000 m in 2014-15, compared to 697,000 m achieved in the previous year, a senior CMPDI official told ICMW.
Of the total drilling, 356,000 m came through the departmental route, while the remaining 472,000 m was achieved through outsourcing, the official said.
While the yearly performance fell short of the target of 1,200,000 m set for the year, the high growth was commensurate with expectations, he said.
“We had achieved about 24% growth in drilling in 2013-14. The growth in 2014-15 has been equally impressive. In fact, in the last eight years, CMPDI has achieved a compound average annual growth (CAGR) of 22% in exploratory drilling for coal which is a stupendous achievement,” the official said.
