CMPDI floats two separate tenders for UCG projects

January 31: The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Ltd (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has floated separate e-tenders inviting bids for the commercial development of underground coal gasification (UCG) at two coal blocks.

The blocks identified for the projects are Kaitha in Ramgarh Coalfield under the command area of Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) in Jharkhand and Thesgora ‘C' of Pench-Kanhan Coalfields under the command area of Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) in Madhya Pradesh.

As per the tender document, the contract period will be 25 years, of which the first five years will be for pilot/market survey and the remaining 20 years will be for commercial production. The winning bidder will require to commence the project within 90 days from
the date of contract.

The tenders for both the blocks will be opened on March 12, 2014 at 4.00 pm.
