CPI, CFPI indices decrease in March month-on-month

April 14: Both the consumer price index (CPI) and consumer food price indices (CFPI) dipped in the month of March 2015 compared to that in February 2015, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on April 14.
The base year for CPI has been shifted to 2012=100 from 2010=100 from January 2015 onwards.
The combined CPI (both rural and urban areas) for the month of March stood provisionally at 5.17%, down from 5.37% in February 2015 (final) and 8.25% in March 2014 (final).
The combined CFPI (both rural and urban areas) for the month of March stood at 6.14%, down from 6.88% in February 2015, and 8.64% in March 2014 (final) the data revealed.
