Ceke August coal imports up 41.6% y-o-y

Ceke border crossing, a major international crossing in northern China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, imported 936,830 tonnes of raw coal from neighboring Mongolia in August, rising 41.56% from the year prior and up 12.91% from July, data showed from the local government on September 9.
Total value of the imports in August amounted to 148.07 million yuan ($24.2 million), up 20.03% on year and 11.52% higher than July. That translated to an average import price of 158.05 yuan/t, dropping 1.98 yuan/t from July and down 28.98 yuan/t from the previous year.
Over January-August this year, coal imports through Ceke border stood at 5.7 million tonnes, up 38.79% from a year ago, with total value soaring 39.62% on year to 940.7 million yuan.
The average import price was 165 yuan/t during the same period, up 1.18 yuan/t from the year before, data showed.
