Cement cos’ April coal consumption falls 5.87% m-o-m

July 23: The Indian cement sector consumed a total of 1.669 mt of coal during April 2014, down 5.87% from 1.773 mt in March.
During April 2014, 1.084 mt was consumed during the process of cement-making while 0.584 mt was used in generation of captive power. On the other hand, in March 2014, 1.145 mt was consumed during the process of cement-making while 0.628 mt was used in generation of captive power.
The following table contains month-wise consumption details of coal (in mt) by the sector for cement-making and that used in captive power plants (in million tons) during April-March 2013-14 and 2014-15:
