Cement cos’ coal consumption falls 1.19% in Nov m-o-m

February 16: The Indian cement sector consumed a total of 1.579 mt of coal during November 2014, slightly down 1.19% from 1.598 mt in October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
During November 2014, 1.054 mt was consumed during the process of cement-making while 0.526 mt was used in generation of captive power. On the other hand, during October 2014, 1.064 mt was consumed during the process of cement-making while 0.534 mt was used in generation of captive power.
Following are the details of coal consumption by the cement sector for cement-making and in captive power plants (in million tons) during 2013-14 and 2014-15:
