April 27: The Indian cement sector received 1.77 mt of coal during January 2015, up 5.48% from 1.678 mt received during December 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For the first ten months (April-January) of 2014-15, the Indian cement sector received 15.273 mt of coal, up 11.17% from 13.739 mt in the corresponding period of 2013-14, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
During January, out of the total coal received by cement companies, 0.564 mt was through their linkages with various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). This figure (from linkages), however, stood slightly lower at 0.508 mt in December.
Imported coal receipts by cement companies stood at 0.502 mt in January 2015 while these were at 0.454 mt in December 2014.
In addition to this, during January, 0.149 mt was procured from the open market, mainly via e-auction while the figure stood at 0.114 mt in December 2014.
Lignite and pet coke receipts during January were at 0.0251 mt and 0.505 mt respectively while the figures were at 0.045 mt and 0.539 mt respectively in December.
