May 18: The Indian cement sector received 1.655 mt of coal during February, 2015, down 6.71%, from 1.77 mt of coal received during January, 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
For the first 11 months (April-February) of 2014-15, the Indian cement sector received 16.928 mt of coal, up 23.21% from 13.739 mt in the corresponding period in 2013-14.
During February, out of the total coal received by cement companies, 0.484 mt was through their linkages with various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). This figure (from linkages), however, stood slightly higher at 0.564 mt in January.
During December, 2014, out of the total coal received by cement companies, 0.508 mt was through their linkages with various subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). This figure (from linkages), however, stood slightly lower at 0.555 mt in November.
In addition to this, during February, 0.168 mt was procured from the open market, mainly via e-auction while the figure stood at 0.149 mt, 0.114 mt, 0.104 mt, 0.024 mt, 0.015 mt, 0.045 mt and 0.135 mt in January 2015, and December 2014 and November, 2014 respectively.
Lignite and pet coke receipts during February were at 0.054 mt and 0.512 mt respectively and 0.0251 mt and 0.505 mt respectively in January. The figures were at 0.045 mt and 0.539 mt respectively in December 2014. In November, these stood at 0.035 mt and 0.521 mt, respectively.
Imported coal receipts by cement companies stood at 0.410 mt in February 2015 while in January these were at 0.502 mt, at 0.454 mt in December.
