Cement mixer rams into Sanpada flyover

A cement mixer vehicle met with an accident on the Sion-Panvel highway after it crashed into the boundary wall of the Sanpada flyover.
The accident occurred allegedly due to poor visibility as there are no street lights on the arterial road.
The incident took place on Saturday around 9.45pm opposite Sanpada railway station. The vehicle was heading towards Mumbai when it was about to climb the flyover.
The driver got blinded by the headlights of vehicles coming from the opposite direction on the Panvel carriageway. He misjudged the pathway and crashed into the flyover's wall and toppled on to the road.
A traffic cop of Turbhe unit said, "The vehicular movement was not hit as the mixer had toppled between the flyover's boundary wall and the parallel lane. The driver escaped with minor bruises.
He will be booked for rash and negligent driving, and causing damage to public property as a portion of the flyover has been damaged, the cop said.
