July 23: In a bid to redress the complaints of captive power plants (CPPs), the top management of Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) held a meeting with the CPPs on July 22, an industry source told ICMW.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman and Managing Director of CCL, Gopal Singh, and other senior officials, the source said.
“The company cited various constraints such as land issues, transportation and clearances as inhibiting factors. However, there was no commitment made to ensure that supply of coal to the CPPs would not be impacted,” he said.
For long, CPPs have been complaining against CCL over shortage in coal supplies against linkages.
The source said that 1.5 rakes are to be loaded per day by CCL for supply to CPPs, but the numbers loaded are often less than that.
