Central Coalfields revamping old washeries
23 Jul 2014
July 23: Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) has taken up revamp work for its old washeries which had become inoperative due to poor maintenance and outdated technology.
CCL, which has five coking coal and two non-coking coal washeries, is learnt to have placed orders for revamping the same by the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), industry sources told ICMW.
Among these, the Rajarappa (coking coal) washery has already been revamped while work is underway at Kedla (coking coal) washery. The Piparwar (non-coking coal) washery has been partly revamped with the mechanical part yet to be refurbished. Revamping work has also been planned for Swang (coking coal) and Kargali (coking coal) washeries.
The projects were taken up at the behest of the Ministry of Coal (MoC) which asked CCL to take steps for revamping its old coking coal washeries which mainly supplied coal to the Steel Authority of India (SAIL), the sources said.
