Sponge iron exports from the port of Chennai in February 2016 rose 97.73% month-on-month to 2,448 tons compared to 1,238 tons in January 2016, according to provisional data available with ISMW.
In February 2016, a volume of 2,228 tons went to Bangladesh in a range of Rs 13,416 – Rs 14,705 per ton and 220 tons to Madagascar at Rs 13,470 – Rs 13,580 per ton.
In January 2016, all the consignments went to Bangladesh in a range of Rs 13,376 – Rs 13,608 per ton.
