China April coal imports from Australia fall 17.7 per cent on year

China imported 6.60 million tonnes of coal from top supplier Australia in April, down 17.7 per cent on a year earlier, official customs data showed on Friday.
Imports from Indonesia, the country's second biggest supplier, fell 12.45 per cent to 3.13 million tonnes over the same period, but were up 18.1 per cent from the previous month.
Total imports, excluding lower-grade lignite, reached 14.94 million tonnes in April, down 27.85 per cent on the year, according to data from China's General Administration of Customs. Coal imports fell 39.1 per cent over the first four months to 51.72 million tonnes.
