China October coal output down 1.2% y-o-y
12 Nov 2015
China produced 316.95 million tonnes of coal in October, falling 1.2% from the previous year but up 1.37% on month, the third straight monthly rise, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on November 11.
China’s coal market continued its downward trend in October, as the wide discount campaign by large coal producers led coal prices to drop further. Coal shipment at ports further declined despite the routine maintenance of coal-dedicated Daqin line; the drop of coal stocks was much slower than the year-prior level.
On October 30, the Fenwei CCI Index assessed the domestic 5,500Kcal/kg NAR coal at 360 yuan/t, inclusive of VAT, FOB Qinghuangdao, falling 20 yuan/t from end-September; while 5,000Kcal/kg NAR coal was assessed at 322 yuan/t, down 12.5 yuan/t from end-September.
Liulin Premium index assessed ex-washplant price of Liulin low-sulphur primary coking coal at 580 yuan/t with VAT on the same day, down 10 yuan/t from September; while CCI Liulin High-sulpfur index was 425 yuan/t, down 30 yuan/t from September.
Coal production over January-October this year was 3.05 billion tonnes, down 3.6% year on year, the NBS said.
