Coal India December production up 5.64% y-o-y

January 2: Coal India Limited (CIL), on January 2, said its December output registered a moderate growth over December 2013 as well as November 2014.
Production of CIL in December 2014 stood at 47.00 million tons (mt), up 5.64% over 44.49 mt produced in December 2013, but slightly lower than the target of 47.93 mt for the month of December 2014, according to provisional data released by the company.
With this, CIL’s December output was the highest in the current financial year as coal production in two out of eight CIL subsidiaries achieved more than their respective targets while other subsidiaries nearly achieved the target.
On a month-on-month basis too, the company’s output grew 5.81% compared to 44.42 mt produced in November 2014.
During April-December, 2014-15, coal production by the world’s largest coal miner stood at 342.39 mt, up 7.27% over 319.20 mt produced in the corresponding period of 2013-14.
The company’s coal production target for April-December, 2014-15 was 353.47 mt.
For the current financial year, the company has set a production target of 507 mt.
According to available data, the company’s actual production in December 2014 was 98% of the targeted 47.93 mt.
