Coal India crosses 500-mt coal production milestone

Coal India Ltd (CIL), which has set a target of producing 550 million tons (mt) of coal in 2015-16, achieved a major milestone on March 13 when it crossed a production volume of 500 mt.

“Coal India creates history. Crosses 500 mts,” Coal Secretary Anil Swarup tweeted on March 14.

“Congratulations team Coal India. Still a long way to go in making India self-sufficient in coal,” Swarup’s tweet further said.
