Coal India’s August production up 9.03% y-o-y

September 2: Coal India Limited (CIL), on September 2, said its production during August 2014 registered strong growth compared to the level recorded in August 2013.
On a month- on-month basis too, the company’s output grew well compared to that in July 2014.
Production of CIL in August 2014 stood at 34.54 million tons (mt), up 9.03% from 31.68 mt produced in August 2013, according to provisional data released by the company.
On a month-on-month basis, the company’s production was up 4.63% from 33.01 mt in July 2013.
During April-August, 2014-15, coal production by the world’s largest coal miner stood at 175.88 mt, up 5.12% over 167.32 mt produced in the corresponding period of 2013-14.
For the current financial year, the company has set a production target of 507.00 mt while its production target for April-August, 2014-15 was 183.94 mt.
According to available data, the company’s actual production in August 2014 was 98% of the targeted 35.13 mt.
