Coal India’s CSR funds quantum reduced in FY15

February 27: Funds allotted for CSR activities to Coal India Limited (CIL), including to its subsidiaries, in FY15 edged down from that allocated in the previous financial year (FY14), according to data furnished by Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy (Independent Charge), in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on February 26.
In the current financial year, CIL has been allocated Rs 471.65 crore for CSR purposes, down from Rs 474.36 crore allocated in the previous financial year.
Fund allocation for Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited for 2014-15, however, has been increased nearly 60% to Rs 41.60 crore against a volume of Rs 26.04 crore in the 2013-14 fiscal.
“Beneficiaries under CSR activities are the people living in and around the mining areas, land losers, project affected people (PAPs) and those staying within the radius of 25 km of the project.
