Coal India’s September output up 5.19% y-o-y

October 9: Coal India Limited (CIL), on October 9, said its production during September 2014 registered strong growth compared to the level recorded in September 2013 even as it missed the target by a small margin.
On a month-on-month basis too, the company’s output grew slightly compared to that in August 2014.
Production of CIL in September 2014 stood at 34.88 million tons (mt), up 5.19% from 33.16 mt produced in September 2013, but lower by 3.57% compared to the target of 36.17 mt for the month of September, according to provisional data released by the company.
On a month-on-month basis, the company’s production was up slightly from 34.54 mt in August 2014.
During April-September, 2014-15, coal production by the world’s largest coal miner stood at 210.76 mt, up 5.13% over 200.47 mt produced in the corresponding period of 2013-14.
The company’s coal production target for the first half (April-September) was 220.11 mt.
For the current financial year, the company has set a production target of 507.00 mt.
According to available data, the company’s actual production in September 2014 was 96% of the targeted 36.17 mt.
