November 14: Coal India Ltd (CIL) is ready to shift its headquarters from Netaji Subhash Bose Road in Central Kolkata to a modern and state-of-the-art office building within the information technology hub at Rajarhat in East Kolkata, a senior official said.
“Our new office building is ready for possession and we will shift within the next 1-2 month,” CIL’s Director (Technical) N Kumar said.
Kumar, however, said, the company will organise an inauguration ceremony in the presence of top government officials such as the President and Prime Minister before formally shifting to the new office.
Asked what it plans to do with the existing office in central Kolkata which is a heritage building, he said, “We plan to bring some of our other offices which are working from other rented premises within the city to the existing building. In addition, most of our subsidiaries have offices in Kolkata, which operate out of rented premises. We will bring these here too.”
“Since this is a heritage building, we will utilise it in an appropriate way for the benefit of the company,” he added.
