Coal India’s off-take increases 8.77% in 2015-16

Coal India Ltd (CIL) achieved an 8.77% growth in coal off-take in financial year 2015-2016 to 532.26 million tons (mt) from around 489.34 mt seen during 2014-15.
The achievement was 97% of the offtake target of 550 mt in 2015-16.
The company’s coal off-take in March 2016 stood at 49.12 mt which means the off-take was up 3.43% year-on-year (y-o-y) from 47.49 mt in March 2015.
On a month-on-month (m-o-m) basis, the March offtake was up by 7.88% from 45.53 mt in February 2016.
The off-take target for March was 52.38 mt while achievement of CIL was 94% of it.
Of the total eight coal producing subsidiaries of the company, the off-take by only one (ECL) in March 2016 was higher than the target set for the month. Rest of the seven subsidiaries - BCCL, CCL, NCL, WCL, SECL, MCL and NEC – missed their targets.
