Coal India to review suspension cases every six months
28 Mar 2016
The disciplinary authority of Coal India Ltd (CIL) will take up all cases of suspension for review once every six months to expedite trial/proceedings or revoke the same, according to a statement issued by the company.
All cases of suspension should be taken up for review once every six months by the Disciplinary Authority either by himself or by a committee to be constituted by him, Sutirtha Bhattacharya, CMD, CIL, said.
The decision was taken after the management recently noticed a case “in which an executive was placed under suspension for an unduly long time” without any periodic review of his suspension.
“The periodical review of suspension is very essential to consider whether the continued suspension of the officer is necessary having regard to the circumstances of the case at any particular stage,” Bhattacharya said.
