Coal India unions yet to hear from Piyush Goyal

October 9: The trade unions of Coal India Ltd (CIL), which were expected to meet Piyush Goyal, the Minister for Coal, Power and Renewable Energy this week, are yet to hear from the ministry which is supposedly busy with deciding the fate of captive blocks following the Supreme Court judgment last month.
“We expected to hear from the ministry this week, but so far there has not been any response,” a senior leader of CITU-backed AICWF said.
Coal minister Piyush Goyal has agreed to hold meetings with the trade unions of CIL to discuss their demands which include scrapping the 10% disinvestment programme and transfer of de-allocated captive coal blocks to CIL.
The union leader, however, declined to comment on reports that CIL has refused to take over the de-allocated blocks.
