Coal despatches by CIL, SCCL rise 4.87% in September

October 18: Despatches of coal by domestic miners Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), in September 2013 stood at 29.53 million tons (mt) up 4.87% compared to 28.16 mt despatched in August 2013, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Of the total despatches in September 2013, CIL had despatched 26.94 whereas SCCL had despatched 2.59 mt.

The two companies had despatched a total of 27.10 mt coal in September 2012 of which 24.25 mt was despatched by CIL and 2.85 mt by SCCL.

During the first half (April-September) of 2013-14, total despatches by CIL and SCCL stood at 182.78 mt compared to 174.39 mt during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Despatches by CIL during the first half of 2013-14 stood at 167.60 mt, up 7.42% compared with 156.02 mt despatched during the corresponding period of 2012-13. Despatches by SCCL during the first half stood at 15.18 mt, down 17.41% from 18.38 mt during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
