Coal despatches by CIL, SCCL up 0.78% in October

November 18: Despatches of coal by domestic miners Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), in October 2013 stood at 29.76 million tons (mt), up 0.78% compared to 29.53 mt in September 2013, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Of the total despatches in October 2013, CIL had despatched 27.22 mt whereas SCCL had despatched 2.54 mt.

The two companies had despatched a total of 32.44 mt coal in October 2012 of which 29.47 mt was despatched by CIL and 2.97 mt by SCCL.

During the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14, total despatches by CIL and SCCL stood at 212.53 mt compared to 206.83 mt during the corresponding period of the previous year.

The despatches by CIL during the first half of 2013-14 stood at 167.60 mt, up 7.42% compared with 156.02 mt despatched during the corresponding period of 2012-13.  The despatches by SCCL during the first half stood at 15.18 mt, down 17.41% from 18.38 mt during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
