Coal despatches by CIL, SCCL up 5.26% in Jan m-o-m

February 18: Despatches of coal by domestic miners Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), in January 2014, stood at 37.41 million tons (mt), up 5.26% as compared to 35.54 mt in December 2013, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
       
Of the total despatches in January 2014, CIL's comprised 34.05 mt while's SCCL's share was at 3.36 mt.

The two companies had despatched a total of 36.58 mt coal in January 2013 of which 32.99 mt had been despatched by CIL and 3.59 mt by SCCL.

During the first 10 months (April-January) of 2013-14, total despatches by CIL and SCCL stood at 318.34 mt compared to 310.89 mt recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year.
