Coal despatches by CIL, SCCL up 9.59% in December

January 14: Despatches of coal by domestic miners Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), in December 2013, stood at 35.54 million tons (mt), up 9.59% compared to 32.43 mt in November 2013, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

Of the total despatches in December 2013, CIL had despatched 32.15 mt while's SCCL's share was at 3.39 mt.

The two companies had despatched a total of 35.27 mt coal in December 2012 of which 31.94 mt had been despatched by CIL and 3.33 mt by SCCL.

During the first nine months (April-December) of 2013-14, total despatches by CIL and SCCL stood at 280.91 mt compared to 274.37 mt recorded during the corresponding period of the previous year.
