Coal handling at Haldia Dock up 4.59% m-o-m in July

August 28: Coal handling by Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Kolkata Port Trust moved up in July 2013 to 1,140,000 tons, up 4.59% compared to 1,090,000 tons in June 2013, a senior official at Kolkata Port Trust told ICMW.
Of the total handling in July 2013, domestic coal accounted for 179,000 tons while the remaining 961,000 tons were imported coal, both coking (514,000 tons) and non-coking (447,000 tons), he said.
He further said that in July 2012, the dock had handled a total of 805,000 tons of coal.
Total coal handled by the port during the first four months of 2013-14 stood at 3,875,000 tons compared to 3,217,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
