Coal handling at Kandla port up 40.32% in August m-o-m

September 25: Coal handling at Kandla port stood at 1,055,014 tons during the month of August 2013, up 40.32% from 751,881 tons handled during the month of July, a senior port official told ICMW.
During the month of August, out of the total coal handled, thermal coal stood at 989,121 tons whereas coking coal stood at 65,893 tons.
On the other hand, during August 2012, total coal handled at the port stood at 317,630 tons.

During the first five months (April-August) of 2013-14, total coal handled at the port stood at 3,627,802 tons while the same stood at 1,761,091 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
