Coal handling at Mundra Port down 12% y-o-y in Sept

October 14: Coal handling at Mundra Port, the flagship port of Adani Ports and SEZ Limited, fell by 12.10% to 0.136 million tons (mt) in September 2014 against a volume of 0.157 mt handled in September 2013, a senior official from the port told ICMW.
On a month-on month basis, coal handling at Mundra Port dropped almost 25% from 0.185 mt in August 2014, the official said.
Of the total coal handled during the month, steam coal stood at 0.054 mt, down from 0.059 mt handled in the same month of 2013 while coking coal stood at 0.082 mt from 0.098 mt in the same month of 2013, the official said.
On a cumulative basis, the port’s coal handling for the April-September period of 2014-15 or the first half of the current fiscal stood at 0.409 mt against 0.549 mt in the same period of last fiscal. Of the total coal handled during the first half of 2014-15, steam coal handling stood at 0.298 mt, down from 0.334 mt in the same period of 2013-14 while coking coal handling by the port during the period under review stood at 0.111 mt against 0.215 mt handled in the same period of 2013-14, the official said.
