Coal handling at Paradip Port up 1.39% in Dec m-o-m

January 31: Coal handling at Paradip Port moved up 1.39% to 2,803,096 tons during the month of December 2013 as compared to 2,764,560 tons in the month of November, a senior port official told ICMW on January 31.

Coal handled during December 2013 was also up 18.45% against 2,366,537 tons handled during the same month last year.

Of the total quantity handled during December 2013, the volume of imported coking coal was 743,819 tons while imported thermal and domestic thermal coal accounted for 620,516 tons and 1,438,761 tons, respectively.

During the first nine months (April-December) of 2013-14, total coal handling at the port stood at 23,883,694 tons compared to 18,686,587 tons in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
