Coal handling at Vizag port up 2.16% m-o-m in July

September 2: Coal handling at Vizag port slightly moved up by 2.16% to 756,000 tons in July 2013 compared to 740,000 tons in June, according to a compilation by the Indian Ports Association (IPA).

Out of the total coal handled at Vizag port in July 2013, thermal coal accounted for 245,000 tons while coking coal stood at 511,000 tons, as per the compilation.

However, coal handling in July 2013 was down by 20.42% as compared with 950,000 tons in July 2012, as per the data.

The total coal handled at the port during the first four months (April-July) of 2013-14 stood at 3,437,000 tons while during the previous financial year (2012-13), the figure stood at 3,356,000 tons.
