Coal handling by 15 Indian ports falls 21.68% in August m-o-m

September 30:  The total coal handling by 15 major and minor Indian ports during the month of August 2013 fell 21.68% compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.

A total of 10,008,377 tons of coal were handled by the above ports during the month of August 2013 compared to 12,778,694 tons of coal handled by the same number of ports in July, the compilation revealed.

However, compared with the handling of 8,323,405 tons of coal in August 2012, the handling in August 2013 was up more than 20.24%, according to ICMW’s compilation.

Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during the first five months of 2013-14 (April-August) stood at 56,288,572 tons, up 32.12% compared to 42,603,333 tons handled during the corresponding period of 2012, according to the compilation.
