Coal handling by 15 ports down 3% in Jan m-o-m

February 26: Total coal handling by 15 major and minor Indian ports during the month of January 2015 fell by 2.52% as compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 11,342,241 tons of coal was handled by the above ports during the month of January 2015 as compared to 11,635,063 tons handled by the same number of ports in December 2014, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (January 2014) total coal handling by these ports stood higher at 9,477,670 tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during 2014-15 stood at 113,562,952 tons while the figure stood at 105,495,974 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a compilation by ICMW.
