Coal handling by Indian ports falls 10.56% in Sept m-o-m

October 31: Total coal handling by the major Indian ports during the month of September 2013 fell by 10.56% compared to that in the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 9,069,693 tons of coal was handled by the above ports during September 2013 compared to 10,140,377 tons handled by the same number of ports in August, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (September 2012) total coal handling by these ports stood lower at 6,932,655 tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during the first six months of 2013-14 (April-September) stood at 65,490,265 tons while the figure was at 49,535,988 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year, according to a compilation by ICMW.
