Coal handling by Indian ports up 19.43% in Dec m-o-m

January 31: Total coal handling by the major Indian ports during December 2013 rose by 19.43% compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 12,143,377tons of coal was handled by the ports during the said month compared to 10,167,725tons handled by the same number of ports in November, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (December 2012) total coal handling by these ports stood lower at 9,112,205tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during the first nine months of 2013-14 (April-December) stood at 97,554,072tons while the figure stood at 77,622,736tons, according to a compilation by ICMW.
