Coal handling by Indian ports up 33.8% in March m-o-m

April 29: The total volume of coal handled by the major Indian ports during March 2014 rose 33.8% compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 11,211,087 tons of coal was handled by the above ports during March 2014 as compared to 8,378,933 tons handled by the same number of ports in February 2014, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (March 2013) total coal handling by these ports stood higher at 9,939,043 tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during 2013-14 stood at 125,085,994 tons while the figure was at 107,837,501 tons in the previous fiscal, according to a compilation by ICMW.
