Coal handling by Indian ports up 5.22% in May m-o-m

June 30: Total coal handling by the major Indian ports during the month of May 2014 rose by 5.22% as compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 11,257,195 tons of coal was handled by above ports during the month of May 2014 as compared to 10,698,267 tons of coal handled by the same number of ports in April 2014, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (May 2013) total coal handling by these ports stood higher at 12,128,407 tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during the first two months (April-May) 2014-15 stood at 21,955,462 tons while the figure stood at 22,391,942 tons, according to a compilation by ICMW.
