Coal handling by Indian ports up 7.53% in Oct m-o-m

November 28: Total coal handling by the major ports in India during October 2013 rose by 7.53% compared to the previous month, according to a compilation by ICMW.
A total of 9,752,705 tons of coal was handled by above ports during the month of October 2013 as compared to 9,069,693 tons handled by the same number of ports in September, the compilation revealed.
During the corresponding month of the previous year (October 2012) total coal handling by these ports stood lower at 9,463,926 tons.
Total coal handling, both domestic and imported, by 15 major and minor ports of India during the first seven months of 2013-14 (April-October) stood at 75,242,970 tons while the figure was at 58,999,914 tons during the corresponding period of the previous year, according to the compilation.
