Coal handling falls 36.23% m-o-m at Haldia Dock in August

September 26: Coal handling by Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) of Kolkata Port Trust fell 36.23% in August 2013 to 727,000 tons, as compared to 1,140,000 tons in July 2013, a senior official of the Kolkata Port Trust told ICMW.
Of the total handling in August 2013, domestic coal accounted for 69,000 tons while the remaining 658,000 tons was imported coal, both coking (442,000 tons) and non-coking (216,000 tons), he said.
He further said that in August 2012, the dock had handled a total of 893,000 tons of coal.
Total coal handled by the port during the first five months of 2013-14 stood at 4,602,000 tons compared to 4,110,000 tons handled during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
